Keanu Reeves is set to return as his most relentless alter ego, John Wick — but not on the big screen. Saber Interactive has announced a new video game based on the billion-dollar action franchise, with Reeves officially reprising his iconic role as the vengeful assassin.

It’s a major milestone for both fans and developers: while John Wick has appeared in games before, this will be the first time Reeves himself lends his voice to the character. His involvement is no surprise — the actor has become one of pop culture’s most beloved gamer icons after his standout role as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077.

Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch said the team is “honoured” to work alongside John Wick director Chad Stahelski and Reeves to “bring the world of Wick to life” in an original, mature-audience story. Lionsgate’s Jenefer Brown, who oversees global products for the John Wick universe, said the project aims to capture the franchise’s signature “unparalleled action” and “brand-defining fight choreography.”

While the game, which was unveiled at PlayStation’s State of Play last week,  will feature familiar faces from the films, it promises a fresh narrative crafted specifically for players — a move that could push the John Wick franchise into new storytelling territory.

Online reactions have been largely positive, with fans thrilled at the thought of Reeves stepping back into Wick’s blood-soaked suit. Still, some have raised concerns about whether this new project could delay Saber’s long-anticipated remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Christopher Dring, editor-in-chief of The Game Business, called the collaboration a “strong match-up” between genre and developer, noting Saber’s track record as a network of studios capable of producing multiple games per year across diverse IPs.

The announcement arrives during a packed season for gaming news, with Sony revealing remakes of the first three God of War titles and Konami offering a chilling first look at Silent Hill Townfall, set on the mysterious Scottish-inspired island of St. Amelia. Ubisoft also dropped a surprise 30th-anniversary edition of Rayman, complete with an in-depth making-of documentary and new accessibility features.

For Keanu Reeves, this marks yet another reinvention within the digital space — a continuation of his legacy as both cinematic legend and gaming icon. Whether he’s dodging bullets in The Matrix, shredding guitar solos in Cyberpunk 2077, or returning to Wick’s shadowy underworld, Reeves continues to prove that no medium can contain his enduring cool.
