Netflix has announced Tygo, a high-octane thriller fronted by BLACKPINK’s Lalisa “Lisa” Manobal and Squid Game star Lee Jin-uk, alongside Korean action heavyweight Don Lee.

The project marks a major expansion of Netflix’s Extraction franchise, bringing Korean cinematic muscle into one of the platform’s most successful action properties.

Based on an original graphic novel by Anthony and Joe Russo with Ande Parks, Tygo focuses on its titular character, Tygo (Don Lee), a former child soldier turned mercenary who goes on a revenge-driven rampage through Korea’s criminal world after a mission goes sideways. The film is penned by Cha Woo-jin and directed by Lee Sang-yong, best known for The Roundup franchise.

But much of the spotlight inevitably falls on Lisa, who makes her long-awaited film debut after appearing in The White Lotus Season 3. “I’m so honored to be a part of this project and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such incredible actors. Being in an action movie has always been a dream of mine, so for my film debut to be such an exciting project feels very special,” she said.

Lee Jin-uk, fresh off his global breakout through Squid Game, shared similar excitement: “As a fan of the ‘Extraction’ franchise, it’s a great honor for me to join this universe. I’m especially excited and grateful to be working with Don, whom I’ve always admired, and with Lisa as well.”

For Don Lee — whose screen presence has defined hits like The Roundup and Marvel’s EternalsTygo is the culmination of years of development.

“I’m thrilled that this project, which I’ve been developing for years with AGBO, is finally moving into production,” he said. “‘Tygo’ brings a distinctly Korean identity into the global ‘Extraction’ universe. We can’t wait to unleash its explosive energy on audiences worldwide.”

AGBO’s chief creative officer Angela Russo-Otstot added: “We’re thrilled to explore the world of ‘Extraction’ through a South Korean lens, teaming up with legendary action star Don Lee and visionary director Lee Sang-yong, whose dynamic choreography exemplifies the world-class craft of Korean cinema. Together, we proudly welcome Lisa, a truly multitalented global phenomenon, and Lee Jin-uk, one of Korea’s most charismatic and versatile actors, to lead our cast alongside Don.”

The first Extraction drew 90 million households in its first four weeks, while the sequel dominated the Global Top 10 Movies list for seven weeks with over 123 million views.
