Tottenham Hotspur has released a special documentary spotlighting the legacy of Son Heung-min, now 33, following his departure to LAFC. The film, titled Heung-Min Son: Homecoming, premiered on Tottenham’s official YouTube channel 17 December.

Shared via the club’s official social media accounts, Tottenham described the documentary as the final chapter of Son’s journey with the club. A teaser released alongside the announcement shows Son seated for an interview, intercut with archival footage from his years in North London — past and present stitched together in a short but emotionally loaded preview.

Few players have shaped modern Tottenham like Son Heung-min. After beginning his professional career in Germany with Hamburg and later Leverkusen, Son arrived at Tottenham in 2015. What followed was not just individual success, but a redefinition of what an Asian footballer could represent on Europe’s biggest stage.

Across 454 official appearances, Son scored 173 goals — placing him fifth on Tottenham’s all-time scoring list and seventh in total appearances. His peak came during the 2021–2022 Premier League season, when he netted 23 goals to become the first Asian player to win the league’s Golden Boot.

There were global moments too: the 70-metre solo run against Burnley that earned him the FIFA Puskas Award in 2020, and multiple selections in the PFA Team of the Year.

Most symbolic of all came last season. Wearing the captain’s armband, Son led Tottenham to victory in the UEFA Europa League — ending the club’s 17-year trophy drought. It was also the first club trophy of Son’s professional career.

His departure, however, was sudden. Son completed a move to MLS side LAFC during last summer’s transfer window, officially saying goodbye during Tottenham’s preseason tour in Korea. After the tour concluded, he flew directly to the United States, leaving little opportunity to properly farewell fans back in the UK.

Acknowledging that absence, Tottenham later organised a dedicated event to bring player and supporters together one last time.

Ahead of their sixth group-stage match of the 2025–2026 UEFA Champions League against Slavia Prague, Son returned to North London for a special ‘Homecoming Day’ at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Standing once more on familiar ground, Son addressed the crowd directly, saying, “I had an incredible time at Tottenham. I can only say thank you. I will always be a part of Tottenham. This place will always be my home.”

The upcoming documentary is expected to weave together these moments — the records, the trophies, and the farewell he never quite had — offering fans a final look at how Son Heung-min didn’t just play for Tottenham, but became part of its history.
