The fictional K-pop group HUNTR/X has officially crossed over. The singing voices behind the animated smash ‘KPop Demon Hunters’EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami—made their full live debut as a unit, performing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on Tuesday night.

The trio sang their hit single, “Golden,” which has been a monumental success for the film’s soundtrack.

From Animation to Top of the Charts

‘KPop Demon Hunters’ has evolved into a full-scale cultural phenomenon. The animated musical fantasy film quickly became Netflix’s most-watched animated film ever. Its soundtrack has also been a powerhouse, reaching Number One on the Billboard 200 soundtrack chart.

The lead track, “Golden,” set its own record by spending eight weeks at Number One on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the longest-running No. 1 song by an animated act in the chart’s history.

The soundtrack’s success is massive, with four total tracks landing in the Hot 100’s top ten, a huge feat for any album.

 The First Full Live Performance

While the trio gave an abbreviated cameo performance on ‘Saturday Night Live’ just days earlier, this appearance on ‘The Tonight Show’ marked their first full-length live performance together as the vocal unit for HUNTR/X.

During their interview with Fallon, the singers reflected on the phenomenon of the film. Audrey Nuna shared an emotional connection to the movie: “This movie has affected all us so much on an emotional level. I’m emotionally constipated, so I take a very, very long time to process my emotions. But I guess I was due for a cry the day of the premiere because literally five minutes into the film I’m, like, bawling my eyes out. And it’s weird because the thing that got me was seeing kimbap, which is a Korean food, it’s like a Korean rice roll, animated on screen.”

The performance provided fans with a chance to see the singers who embody Rumi (EJAE), Mira (Audrey Nuna), and Zoey (Rei Ami) showcase their impressive vocal range, confirming their status as major musical talents.
