Global superstar Lisa, a member of the acclaimed K-pop group BLACKPINK, is set to be the focus of a new documentary film. The project, currently in production, comes from Sony Music Vision and will be directed by Sue Kim. The announcement was made during an event in Hollywood showcasing Sony Music Vision’s upcoming music film projects.
The film will explore a transformative year in Lisa’s life, as she balances her work with BLACKPINK with her burgeoning solo recording career and recent move into acting. Lisa recently launched her solo album, Alter Ego, under her own company, LLOUD CO., in partnership with RCA Records.
Director Sue Kim, known for her work on A24’s The Last of the Sea Women and Netflix’s The Speed Cubers, has spent a year working with Lisa on the film. Kim brings previous K-pop experience, having served as an executive producer on the Apple TV+ docuseries K-Pop Idols.
A trailer for the film, shown during the industry presentation, featured concert footage of Lisa performing her solo music, as well as more intimate moments with her relatives. Kim revealed that at her very first meeting with Lisa, the singer immediately reached out to her pre-fame friends, inviting them to be part of the documentary.
Lisa expressed her excitement about the project, stating, “This has been such an incredible year and I’m so lucky to have the opportunity to capture these special moments on film and share the experience with my fans. Working with Sue Kim has been such a joy. We’ve been all around the world together and I know this is just the beginning of many more exciting things to come.”
Sue Kim also shared her perspective on the project, saying, “Following Lisa on this transformative and thrilling year has been a true honor and a cinematic gift. There have been so many moments on her journey that I think will surprise people and give a glimpse into her world that no one’s ever seen before. I’m excited for viewers to watch the film and witness this extraordinary moment in her life.”
The documentary will also reportedly touch upon Lisa’s acting debut in the most recent season of The White Lotus. While BLACKPINK members have recently pursued solo endeavours, the group is scheduled for a short tour this year, with a more prolonged reunion expected to follow.

The Lisa film is a production of Tremolo Productions in association with Salt Water Productions and LLOUD CO. It is being presented and distributed by Sony Music Vision in partnership with the RCA Records label.
The event also featured previews of other high-profile music documentaries from Sony Music Vision, including projects on Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, and Oasis. Baz Luhrmann discussed his EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert film, which he described as a hybrid of a concert film and a documentary, featuring previously unseen footage and audio of Presley.
