Actress Arden Cho, known for Partner Track and Avatar: The Last Airbender, is set to star alongside award-winning comedian Margaret Cho in Cheap AF. This upcoming romantic comedy marks the feature directorial debut for Roy Hsu, who also penned the script.

According to Deadline, Cheap AF follows a money-saving influencer, played by Arden Cho, who’s chasing her big break. Her pursuit of internet fame and wedding perfection leads her to compete in Wedding Magazine’s ‘Best Wedding on a Budget’ social media competition. But this high-stakes contest puts her relationships and engagement at risk.

Director Roy Hsu shared his vision for the film: “America is a melting pot, and many immigrants share common experiences regardless of race—parents chasing better futures, valuing education, and, yes, saving every penny. He hopes the film will tell a comedic bridezilla story about two women competing for the cheapest wedding, though at its core, the film is about letting go of the past and discovering what truly matters—all through an Asian-American lens with themes that are universally relatable.”

This film brings together two prominent Asian American actresses with diverse and impressive careers.

Arden Cho has been busy, recently appearing as June in Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender and lending her voice to the upcoming KPop Demon Hunters animated film. Her work on Teen Wolf and Partner Track has garnered her a dedicated fanbase.

Margaret Cho, an acclaimed comedian and actress, continues to add to her extensive list of credits. She recently appeared in Hulu’s Fire Island, had guest roles on Doctor Odyssey and Hacks, and released two Netflix Is a Joke comedy specials. Her latest film, All That We Love, premiered at Tribeca, and she’s also slated for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2.

With this exciting cast and a story that promises both laughs and heartfelt moments through a unique cultural lens, Cheap AF is definitely one to watch for.
