Pixar just dropped the trailer for Elio, and it’s a cosmic trip directed by Domee Shi, alongside Madeline Sharafian and Adrian Molina. Forget your standard Earth-bound stories; this one beams us straight into the Communiverse, an intergalactic hub where things get seriously mixed up.

Elio, voiced by Yonas Kibreab, isn’t your average kid. He’s obsessed with aliens, dreams of being abducted, and, well, actually gets his wish. But here’s the kicker: he’s mistaken for Earth’s leader. Talk about a promotion.

Shi, known for Turning Red, brings her signature touch of heart and humor to this sci-fi adventure. Elio, suddenly thrust into a role he’s hilariously unprepared for, has to navigate alien politics, forge friendships with creatures like Glordon (Remy Edgerly) and Lord Grigon (Brad Garrett), and, oh yeah, save the galaxy.

Elio was initially set for a March 2024 release but got pushed to June 20. After the success of Inside Out 2, Pixar’s riding high, and “Elio” looks set to continue that streak. It’s a classic fish-out-of-water story, but with aliens, intergalactic crises.
