Ke Huy Quan, the Oscar-winning actor who made a triumphant return to Hollywood with his role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, has set his sights on a new challenge: playing a villain. In a recent interview, Quan expressed his desire to step outside his comfort zone and embrace a darker role, citing Bond villains and Hugh Grant’s performance in Heretic as inspiration.

“I would love to play a bad guy. Like a Bond villain. Or the kind of thing Hugh Grant does in Heretic,” Quan told Empire. “I want to go out of my comfort zone and just play this diabolical, really bad guy. That would be a lot of fun.”

This ambition marks a departure from the lovable and heroic characters Quan has been known for, including Waymond Wang in Everything Everywhere All at Once and Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.  After years of working behind the scenes as a stunt choreographer, Quan is eager to explore the full range of his acting abilities.
