Minari Oscar winner Youn Yuh-jung is joining the cast of Beef for its second season, Netflix announced Wednesday.  The acclaimed actress, who made history as the first Korean to win an acting Oscar, will star alongside Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny.

Season 2 of the hit series, created by Lee Sung Jin and produced by A24, promises a fresh storyline with new characters. “A young couple witnesses an alarming fight between their boss and his wife, triggering chess moves of favors and coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner,” reads the official logline.

Youn is no stranger to acclaimed projects, with a career spanning over five decades. The South Korean actress’s recent credits include Apple TV+’s Pachinko,  The Housemaid, The Taste of Money, and The Bacchus Lady.  She’ll also appear in the upcoming film The Wedding Banquet.

Beef originally aired as a limited series starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong,  garnering significant critical acclaim and a slew of awards.  The show took home eight Emmys, including wins for best limited series, directing, writing, and acting for both Yeun and Wong.  It also snagged four Critics Choice Awards, three Golden Globes, and two SAG Awards.
