‘Past Lives’ Star Greta Lee Says ‘Tron: Ares’ is “Culturally Relevant to Us Now”

Past Lives star Greta Lee has opened up about her upcoming film, Tron: Ares, which is set for release next year.

Speaking at Disney’s D23’s Entertainment Showcase, Lee said the sci-fi epic was an “incredible experience” to make, adding that fans of the franchise are going to be “so happy.”

Lee said that the filmmakers adapted the movie to “make it feel really culturally relevant” with “a lot of heart.” The Asian American actress stars as Eve Kim, alongside Jared Leto who takes on the titular role of Ares.

When asked about working with Leto, Lee said, “I’ve been a fan of Jared for so long and he lived up to everything I hoped and expected. He was definitely Ares the whole time.”

Jeff Bridges, who plays Kevin Flynn, was described by Lee as a “beautiful human” and the “appropriate mascot” for the franchise. “He’s an incredible person and that element combined with technology and AI and all the things the movie addresses is so special.”

Lee, who also features in The Morning Show as Stella Bak, said the character is the “first woman of colour to be President of the news division” and that inhabiting the character every day is a “reminder of how far we’ve come and how much further we have to go.”

Tron: Ares will hit theatres on 10 October 2025.
