Universal Pictures just dropped the first trailer for Dìdi (弟弟), the critically acclaimed coming-of-age film from Oscar-nominated director Sean Wang (of Nai Nai & Wài Pó fame).

Set in 2008 Bay Area, this heartwarming story follows a 13-year-old Taiwanese American boy (played by Izaac Wang of Good Boys and Raya and the Last Dragon) as he navigates the ups and downs of adolescence. The legendary Joan Chen (Twin PeaksThe Last Emperor) also stars, making this a must-watch for fans of nostalgic coming-of-age stories.

Dìdi (弟弟) was a hit at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, winning both the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award and the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Best Ensemble Cast. Since then, it’s been screened at SXSW and SFFILM, generating even more buzz.

Described as “a tender, specific rendering of adolescence on the early internet” by the Guardian and a “winning and well-acted Asian American coming-of-age drama” by The Hollywood ReporterDidi has earned a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
