Oscar-winning actor Michelle Yeoh is set to star in the upcoming Amazon Prime limited series, Blade Runner 2099. The series is a direct sequel to both the original 1982 Blade Runner film directed by Ridley Scott, and its 2017 follow-up Blade Runner 2049.

Yeoh, famed for roles in films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the recent box office smash hit Everything Everywhere All at Once, will portray a character named Olwen. Yeoh made history in 2023 as the first Asian actress to win an Academy Award for Best Actress.

Described as “a replicant near the end of her life”, Olwen’s role in the series remains shrouded in mystery.
