Paramount+ has officially commenced production on Star Trek: Section 31, a new movie event featuring Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh. Filming is taking place in Toronto, with Yeoh reprising her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, a character she originally portrayed in the first season of Star Trek: Discovery.

Star Trek: Section 31 centers on Georgiou, a character who transitioned from the Mirror Universe to become an agent of Starfleet’s covert intelligence group, Section 31. In this film, Georgiou is tasked with safeguarding the United Federation of Planets while confronting her own past misdeeds.

Executive producer Alex Kurtzman expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “And we’re off to the races! Thrilled to report principal photography has started on Star Trek: Section 31. We welcome our incredible cast of new characters as they join our beloved Michelle Yeoh on her next wild adventure across the ‘Trek’ universe.”
