Barbie and Kim’s Convenience star, Simu Liu, has been confirmed as the host of the 2024 People’s Choice Awards.

Liu is renowned for his award-winning action role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and is also gearing up for another accolade at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards. Liu is also nominated for ‘Movie Performance of the Year’ for his role in Barbie. The film is a strong contender in categories such as ‘Movie of the Year’ and ‘Comedy Movie of the Year.’

Expressing his excitement for the event, Liu shared, “I’m grateful to be hosting the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, celebrating this incredible year in pop culture with the amazing fans who make it all possible.”

Jen Neal, Executive Vice President of Live Events and Specials at NBCUniversal, praised Liu’s selection, saying, “Simu’s limitless charm and connection to fans perfectly embody the spirit of this awards show.”

Liu, taking to social media, playfully promised, “There will be no Taylor slander at the 2024 PCAs, that’s a personal guarantee.” This light-hearted commitment ensures a respectful atmosphere at the awards, contrasting with recent controversies, such as Jo Koy’s poorly received joke about Taylor Swift at the Golden Globes. As a self-proclaimed Swiftie, Liu aims to set a more inclusive and considerate tone at the People’s Choice Awards.
