The New York Post has used a seemingly random and unrelated image of Asians in Queens to report on New York City’s first Coronavirus case, which occurred in Manhattan.

According to the news site, a woman in her late 30s who recently traveled to Iran is the first case of Coronavirus in the city.

However, the feature image shown when sharing the article, displays a group of Asian people in Main Street, Queens. In the centre of the image, an Asian man is seen wearing a mask.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo released a statement Sunday night announcing that the woman carrying the virus lives in Manhattan.

“The patient, a woman in her late thirties, contracted the virus while traveling abroad in Iran, and is currently isolated in her home,” Cuomo said in the statement.

Cuomo insisted, “There is no cause for surprise — this was expected.”

“As I said from the beginning, it was a matter of when, not if there would be a positive case of novel coronavirus in New York.”

In related news, Last Week Tonight host John Oliver was seen dancing to Vietnamese PSA song that educates people about the virus.

Elsewhere Asian American lawmakers are urging Congress members to help to combat racism linked to the virus.
