The Straits Times reports that model and actor Godfrey Gao has died at the age of 35.

On Wednesday the Taiwan-born Canadian star collapsed whilst filming a Chinese variety series by Zhejiang Television titled Chase Me. Gao was rushed to hospital but passed away after three hours.

Hong Kong actor William Chan and boy band Fahrenheit member Calvin Chen were also on set.

“In the early hours of Nov. 27, our beloved Godfrey collapsed while filming on set. Following three hours of rescue efforts, he unfortunately left us. We are very shocked and saddened and even until now find it impossible to accept,” his agency JetStar Entertainment said in a statement.

One witness claimed Gao’s heart stopped beating for a few minutes but started up again before he was rushed to hospital.

Gao was the first Asian male model to appear in a Louis Vuitton ad campaign back in 2011. As well as appearing in a range of Chinese films including Shanghai Fortress, Gao also appeared in Hollywood films including City Of Bones.
