SoraNews24 reports that there was a five hour wait for KFC Japan’s new KFC all-you-can-eat buffet.

Earlier this week, we reported that KFC recently opened an all-you-can-eat-and-drink buffet restaurant in Tokyo.

Although KFC buffets are not a new phenomenon in Japan, a brand new KFC in Minami Machida Grandberry Park is the first to offer a permanent buffet.

Over 50 different items are available including original recipe fried chicken, biscuits, pasta, fries, curry, soup, salad, and dessert, as well as all-you-can-drink packages for soft drinks and alcohol.

SoraNews24 went to check out the new establishment but were forced to wait. Arriving at 11am for lunch, they were only able to eat at dinner time.

“So despite arriving before the 11:00 a.m. opening time, we ended up waiting for FIVE HOURS, which meant our buffet lunch turned out to be a buffet dinner instead,” SoraNews24 reported.

However, KFC’s waiting system permitted them to leave the restaurant and return later.

“The one saving grace was the queuing system, which meant we could wander around the area, or even head off somewhere else and return again, as we would receive an alert on our phone to let us know when it was our turn to enter the restaurant,” the outlet said.

Prices charged as follows:

Lunch (served between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.):
Adult – 1,980 yen ($18 USD)
Kids – 980 yen ($9 USD)

Dinner (served between 5 p.m.-10 p.m.):
Adult – 2,580 yen ($24 USD)
Kids – 1,280 yen ($12 USD)

Lunch and dinner are available to customers younger than elementary school students for 480 yen, and free for children 3 and under.

An all-you-can-drink alcohol offer is also available for an extra 1,250 yen ($12 USD).
