Disney has released a teaser trailer for the live-action remake of Mulan

A teaser trailer for Disney’s live-action remake of Mulan has just been released online.

Starring Yifei Liu as Mulan, the live-action remake is based on the narrative poem ‘The Ballad of Mulan’, rather than a copy of the 1998 cartoon.

Consequently, the film will not feature any singing but will likely use instrumental renditions of the original cartoon. In the trailer, a slow instrumental version of ‘Reflection’ is heard in the background.

The plot follows Hua Mulan who masquerades as Hua Jun to replace her father’s role of serving in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders.

Donnie Yen (Star Wars: Rogue One) stars as Commander Tung,  Tzi Ma (Rush Hour) stars as Mulan’s father Hua Zhou and Jet Li (The Expendables) stars as the Emperor.

Mulan also features Jason Scott Lee as Böri Khan, Yoson An as Cheng Honghui and Gong Li as Xianniang.

This new adaptation will be released in theatres on 27 March 2020.

In other news, Yen recently nailed the #BottleCapChallenge blindfolded.
