Jeremy Lin has become the first Asian American to win an NBA Championship

Beating Golden State Warriors 114-110, the Toronto Raptors won their first NBA finals in six games.

The win marked the first NBA Championship win for the Raptors and the first championship win for Canada.

Although Jeremy Lin did not play in game six, the Raptors guard’s presence in the team also made him the first Asian American NBA championship winner.

The Taiwanese American only played 51 seconds in the NBA finals in Game 3 but those vital seconds also made him the first East Asian-American to even play in NBA Finals.

Raptors small forward Kawhi Leonard, who was crowned Finals MVP, said “I just kept working hard and had my mind set on this goal here. This is what I play basketball for.”

“It’s been a long time coming, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for these guys,” Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry added. “Canada, we’ve brought it home, baby!”
