Gordon Ramsay has come under fire for his ‘White Geisha’ cocktail

Huff Post reports that UK chef Gordon Ramsay has stirred the pot with his ‘White Geisha’ cocktail at his “authentic Asian” restaurant.

Last month, Ramsay defended his upcoming London restaurant Lucky Cat from cultural appropriation claims.

Now, the restaurant has drawn even more flack for sharing an image of its new cocktail called ‘White Geisha’.

The drink features an image of a geisha drawn in foam.

Social media users were quick to criticise the restaurant for exploiting the exoticism of Asian women.

Writer Nancy Wang Yuen wrote on Twitter, “Gordan Ramsay has really outdone himself with the most orientalist exotica of libations. 🤮”

“Literal consumption of exoticized/objectified/sexualized idealization of Asian women,” she added.

One Twitter user asked the British chef to learn from the feedback. @GordonRamsay, you’re receiving valid feedback on cultural appropriation here and I hope you thoughtfully reflect and respond with changes.”
