‘The Eternals’: Marvel searches for gay Asian lead, adds ‘Train To Busan’ star Ma Dong-seok

Marvel has cast Train To Busan star Ma Dong-Seok in The Eternals and is still looking for a gay Asian lead

Collider reports that Train To Busan star Ma Dong-seok has been cast in Marvel’s The Eternals.

The South Korean actor joins Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani in the upcoming film, which will be directed by Chloe Zhao (The Rider).

Based on the 1976 comic book series of the same name by Jack Kirby, the the film will focus on near-immortal super heroes known as Eternals. In the comics, Deviants created by cosmic beings called Celestials are their nemesis.

That Hashtag Show adds that Marvel is looking to cast a gay Asian male to take on lead character James. Described as “intellectual, emotional, and has a strong sense of family,” the character will be played by an openly gay/bisexual Asian actors in their 20’s.

How To Get Away With Murder’s Conrad Ricamora is rumoured to be at the top of Marvel’s list.

In related news, Aquaman director James Wan is producing a remake of Train To Busan.
