Ming-Na Wen has hinted at having a cameo in the live-action remake of Mulan.

According to Bustle, Ming-Na Wen has hinted that she may have a cameo in Disney’s live-action Mulan remake.

Wen voiced lead character Fa Mulan in Disney’s original 1998 animation film.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Wen was asked if she has a cameo in the upcoming remake.

“I can’t say!” Wen responded. “What is it that Jed Whedon always says? It’s so funny… ‘I can neither confirm nor deny.’ So, yeah!”

Although we know that Chinese film star Liu Yifei will star as Mulan, it’s hard to say what character Wen will play in the remake.

Wen said she she is confident that Disney will do the original justice. “Disney has done such an amazing job with the other live-action [remakes], and I love them all, like Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and Maleficent,” Wen said.

“So I’m definitely excited that they chose Mulan of all the other great Disney movies to turn into live-action. I think they’ll do a great job with it, and it’s great to keep that legacy alive.”

Wen also discussed Asian American representation. “I’m definitely proud of films like The Joy Luck Club, being a part of that [and] being there to represent Asian-American communities,” Wen added. “It’s beyond wonderful to finally have such success, and crossover success, internationally across a spectrum of people. That’s what it’s about. With Hollywood, a lot of times it’s more about economy, so the economics of it is if you make money, they will come to you.”

“The fact that [studios] can make money from representing us in a positive way rather than a stereotypical way is such a leap forward.”

In related news, it was recently confirmed that Wen, Reggie Lee and Jimmy O. Yang will guest star in an upcoming episode of Fresh Off The Boat.
