China’s HNA boss Wang Jian has died from a fall in Provence, France.

As reported by BBC, China’s HNA Group co-founder and chairman Wang Jian has died from a fall in southern France.

The 57-year-old “accidentally fell” in Provence whilst on a business trip, according to a company statement. Wang fell from the wall in Bonnieux whilst having his picture taken.

“He stood on the edge of a sharp drop to get his family to take a picture of him and fell,” a local police chief Hubert Meriaux said. Wang fell 50ft according to the police chief.

“Witness accounts point to a likely accident,” Mr Meriaux added. A post-mortem examination will be performed too.

HNA is the one of the world’s biggest conglomerates. It has assets in aviation, tourism and finance including Deutsche Bank, hotel chain Hilton and London skyscrapers.

The Chinese company employs over 400,000 people worldwide.

HNA said on its website that the it had lost an “exceptionally gifted leader and role model, whose vision and values will continue to be a beacon for all who had the good fortune to know him”.

The company turned its website grey to representing mourning.
