Tokyo Drift director Justin Lin will return to direct Fast & Furious 9.

Inquisitr reports that Justin Lin will return to direct Fast & Furious 9, with Vin Diesel likely to star.

As well as Tokyo Drift, Lin also directed the fourth and fith film in the franchise Fast & Furious and Fast Five.

Daniel Casey will write the film, making him the first new writer in the franchise in over 12 years. Chris Morgan, who wrote all the films since Tokyo Drift is working on a spinoff called Hobbs and Shaw that stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

The Fast & Furious franchise has reportedly made over $5.1 billion, with Lin’s titles grossing almost $2 billion.

Rob Cohen, the director of the original The Fast and the Furious in 2001 said he was, “very proud that the character I created in 2001 are still in the lexicon.”
