Wikipedia’s synopsis for upcoming all-Asian cast film Crazy Rich Asians has been slammed for racism.

Even though Crazy Rich Asians has not been released yet, the all-Asian cast film starring Constance Wu, has gained a great deal of traction.

Dropping its official trailer earlier this week, Crazy Rich Asians has been praised for breaking the glass ceiling by bringing Asians to the forefront of Hollywood and erasing stereotypes.

However, one eagle-eyed Twitter user noticed that even Crazy Rich Asians can’t avoid racist stereotypes being forced upon it.

In a screenshot shared on social media, Wikipedia’s synopsis of the film seems to suggest that Asians do not get along with their own mothers.

“Unlike most other Asian families, Rachel is very close to her mother,” the plot synopsis reads.

Twitter users were quick to respond. “Just some casual racism in plot synopsis no biggie,” wrote one user. Others were simply dismayed at the revelation.

Wikipedia’s plot synopsis has been changed since the screenshot surfaced online. The description now reads, “typical to most Asian families, Rachel is very close to her mother.”
