Tamlyn Tomita has been promoted to a series regular on ABC’s The Good Doctor.

Starring alongside Freddie Highmore, Tomita will play Allegra Aoki – the chairman and Vice President of the foundation that controls St. Bonaventure Hospital, according to Deadline.

The medical drama revolves around young surgeon Shaun Murphy (Highmore) who has autism and savant syndrome. Murphy joins a prestigious hospital’s surgical unit, leaving quite country life behind. Unable to connect socially with his peers, Shaun uses his medical skillset to challenge the skepticism of his colleagues.

The Good Doctor premieres Monday 25 September at 10pm on ABC.
