Australian actor Hugh Jackman has braved the taste of Taiwan’s infamous stinky tofu.

Jackman tried the Taiwanese delicacy whilst visiting Taipei to promote his new film, Logan – the last film in the superhero Wolverine franchise.

According to Rappler, Jackman told a press conference on Tuesday, “We went to the night market last night. It was so much fun. We had stinky tofu… It’s not as stinky as I thought.” the actor joked that he was “part Taiwanese” to explain his rather convincing pronunciation of “stinky tofu” in Mandarin. Jackman also added that he tried another Taiwanese snack – skewers of chicken hearts.

The X-Men actor posted a short video of himself on Instagram before trying the local dish as well as a video of him greeting local fans.

Jackman and Patrick Stewart arrived in the Taiwanese capital for the premiere of Logan over the weekend. Logan, which is out in the US on 3 March 2017, sees Wolverine return to father figure Professor X and introduced to Laura, a mutant daughter created in a Mexican Lab.
