Chinese 3D animation film Where’s The Dragon will be released in the U.S. next year.

The film was released in China this month and has a U.S. release date set for 27 January 2017, in time for Chinese New Year.

The film was written and directed by VFX veteran Sing Choong Foo (Spider-Man, Beowulf). The 3D animation tells the tale of a young girl who joins forces with the animals of the Chinese to search for a missing dragon.

“The animation quality is comparable with the best of the major studios, and we are confident that American audiences will respond strongly to this film,” said Eric Parkinson, CEO of Hannover House.

The original film starred Zhang Ziyi and Wang Leehom as voice actors. The U.S. version will be voiced in Los Angeles and Fayetteville Arkansas through Crisp Recording and Filmworks.

“The story of the Chinese zodiac is both educational and entertaining and is the perfect way to celebrate Chinese New Year with the family this year,” said Jonathan Lim of Crimson Forest – a digital media distributing company based in Shanghai and Los Angeles.
