20sq foot ‘space capsule’ pods are available to rent in Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong, for HK$5,100 per month.

The pods were created from a 830 square foot space in Sai Ying Pun, which now holds a dozen pods. The 20sq ft pod provides basic amenities and a bed and are very reminiscent of Japanese capsule hotels.

Wong, the owner of the pods, is charging HK$5,100 per month for one of the pods. If she rents out all 12 pods, she would net over HK$60,000 per month.

Water, electricity, Wi-Fi and cleaning services are also included, whilst discounts are available for longer lets.

The description of the pods from renting site 591.com reads, “the space capsule has everything you need – television, LED lighting system… an adjustable ventilation system… a computer, dresser, and USB charging. Inside the capsule is also a memory foam mattress and pillow.”

The capsules are located three minutes away from the MTR in Sai Ying Pun.

A 664 square foot apartment listed on the same website in the same location costs HK$24,500.
