Michelle Yeoh takes centre stage in the new trailer for Prime Video’s Blade Runner 2099, which premiered at New York Comic Con. The Oscar winner plays Olwen, a near-death Replicant drawn into a dangerous partnership in a transformed Los Angeles.
Set 50 years after Blade Runner 2049, the limited series follows Cora, played by Hunter Schafer, a fugitive who assumes a final identity as a Blade Runner. She is forced to work with Yeoh’s Olwen to track down a runaway hiding a truth that could collapse the city.
Olwen is one of the franchise’s most intriguing new figures: a Replicant with only days left to live, navigating a world in which her kind has seized power but still cannot age, have children or experience life as humans do.
The series imagines a Los Angeles reshaped by the long-foreshadowed Replicant uprising. Humans have lost their dominant position, while the beings once created to serve them now rule the city — though their victory has not delivered the full human experience they longed for.
“They still cannot age, have children or experience life in the same way humans do,” showrunner Silka Luisa said at Comic Con, noting that simulations of human experiences are even sold in parts of the futuristic city.

Blade Runner 2099 promises a brighter, more vibrant and chaotic vision of Los Angeles than Ridley Scott’s 1982 original or Denis Villeneuve’s 2017 sequel. The series extends the franchise’s central questions about memory, mortality, identity and what it means to be human — themes that feel increasingly timely as artificial intelligence becomes part of everyday life.
Yeoh and Schafer lead a cast that includes Dimitri Abold and Lewis Gribben as series regulars. Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi appear in recurring guest roles.
All eight episodes of Blade Runner 2099 premiere on Prime Video on November 25, 2026.
