Singer-songwriter EJAE was honoured at Gyopo’s eighth annual Chuseok Benefit, a gathering that celebrated her artistic achievements and her connection to the Korean diaspora.
The KPop Demon Hunters star has had a landmark year following the Netflix animated film’s success on the awards circuit. EJAE earned major recognition for her songwriting, including a Golden Globe and a Grammy Award.
Sponsored by CJ ENM, the benefit was held late last month at the private residence of Gyopo board member Ann Soh Woods. The annual event brings together figures from art, design, entertainment and fashion during Chuseok, the Korean harvest holiday and a time for community and connection.
“I’m so honoured to be recognised by GYOPO at this year’s Chuseok Benefit. It means so much to be surrounded by a community that celebrates the Korean diaspora and the many different ways we stay connected to our culture, because that connection is at the core of what I do,” EJAE told The Hollywood Reporter.
“It’s been such a special afternoon,” she added. “I’m so proud to celebrate where we come from and what we’re creating together.”

The event brought together guests including Anicka Yi, Carol Lim, Dumbfoundead and Jon Moon, along with EJAE’s fellow KPop Demon Hunters stars Audrey Nuna and Kevin Woo.
For EJAE, the recognition reflected more than her recent awards success. It also highlighted the importance of a community that celebrates the varied experiences of Korean identity and diaspora culture.

Lee continued, “Her story has resonated with millions across the globe, but it is the way she shares it, with clarity, honesty, humility and meaningfully contextualized within a diasporic Korean experience, that has touched the hearts of us at Gyopo. EJAE has used her platform to speak openly about her process, pressure, rejection and transformation. In times like these, we savor the opportunity to honor a kindred spirit such as EJAE.”
