Simu Liu is stepping into another high-stakes story—this time far from the Marvel universe. The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and upcoming Avengers: Doomsday star has joined the cast of Homewrecker, a sci-fi survival thriller from Under Paris director Xavier Gens.

Liu joins Allison Williams and Michelle Randolph in a project that blends emotional drama with large-scale catastrophe. French actress Anaïs Parello, who previously collaborated with Gens on Netflix’s Under Paris, has also come aboard, signaling a continued creative partnership behind the camera.

Production is set to begin in Paris on July 15, just after the Bastille Day holiday, grounding the film’s global stakes in a distinctly European setting.

Homewrecker is described as a character-driven survival thriller in the vein of 10 Cloverfield Lane, focusing on three Americans forced together under extreme circumstances. According to the screenplay by Elisa Bell and Travis Gordon, the story unfolds after a devastating personal revelation, when an unexplained global event threatens to upend life as they know it. What begins as an intimate emotional crisis quickly escalates into a fight for survival.

For Liu, Homewrecker adds another layer to a rapidly expanding portfolio. Fresh off his Broadway debut in Oh, Mary! and his role in Peacock’s thriller The Copenhagen Test, the actor continues to balance mainstream franchise appeal with more grounded, experimental projects.

With Avengers: Doomsday slated for a December release, Homewrecker positions Liu in a darker, more contained narrative—one that leans on tension, performance, and psychological stakes rather than spectacle alone.

As production ramps up in Paris, Homewrecker is shaping into a project that merges intimate storytelling with global scale—a space Liu seems increasingly drawn to as his career evolves.
