Peacock has decided not to renew The Copenhagen Test for a second season. The streaming platform pulled the plug on the espionage thriller starring Simu Liu and Melissa Barrera after just one season, a source close to the production confirmed.
Created by Thomas Brandon and executive produced by James Wan, the series centered on Alexander Hale (played by Liu), a first-generation Chinese-American intelligence analyst whose mind is covertly hacked — allowing unknown perpetrators to see and hear everything he experiences. Torn between his own agency and the mysterious hackers manipulating him, Hale must perform constantly to uncover the truth and prove his loyalty.
Barrera starred opposite Liu as Michelle, “a deceptive character who will keep everyone guessing,” while the ensemble also featured Sinclair Daniel as Parker, Brian D’Arcy James as John Moira, Mark O’Brien as Cobb, and Kathleen Chalfant as St. George.

Produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, The Copenhagen Test boasted an impressive team behind the camera. Brandon not only created and wrote the series but also served as executive producer and co–showrunner alongside Jennifer Yale. Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett EP’d under Atomic Monster, with Liu himself among the executive producers. Mark Winemaker and Jet Wilkinson also joined as executive producers, with Wilkinson directing the show’s first two episodes.

Though The Copenhagen Test drew intrigue with its cyber-thriller premise and star power, Peacock’s decision adds it to 2026’s growing list of one-and-done dramas.
