Disney Plus is expanding its divine roster for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3. Sources have confirmed that Ming-Na Wen will join the cast as Hera, the formidable Queen of Olympus.

Wen is a veteran of major franchises. Many fans know her as the voice of the original Mulan, while others recognize her as Fennec Shand from The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. She also spent seven seasons playing Melinda May on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Her addition to the show brings some serious star power to the Olympian council.

Hera is the wife of Zeus, played by Courtney B. Vance. The show describes her as regal and maternal, but she is also “no-nonsense.” Because Zeus is famous for his infidelity, Hera stays busy managing family politics. She is one of the few gods with significant leverage on the council, making her a powerful ally or a dangerous enemy for Percy.

Joining Wen in the third season are Jennifer Beals and Hubert Smielecki. Beals will play Demeter, the goddess of agriculture. Her character is reportedly focused on the cycle of life and death. More importantly, she is determined to prevent the return of the Titan King, Kronos.

Smielecki takes on the role of Apollo. He is the twin brother of Artemis and the “golden boy” of the gods. As the god of the sun, music, and prophecy, he is expected to bring plenty of charisma to the screen.

The series follows Percy Jackson, a boy who learns he is the son of Poseidon. Along with his friends Annabeth and Grover, he has to navigate a world full of mythic monsters and ancient grudges. Season 3 will continue adapting Rick Riordan’s best-selling book series.

The show has become a major hit for Disney. Creators Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg serve as executive producers, ensuring the TV adaptation stays close to the source material. With the casting of Hera, Demeter, and Apollo, the political stakes on Mount Olympus are clearly heating up.
