The biggest animated film on Netflix is staging a massive takeover of the world’s biggest game. ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ is hitting Fortnite in an extensive crossover event, rolling out tomorrow, October 2. This collaboration is going far beyond just new outfits; it includes an exclusive game mode and unique in-game items.
The Demon Rush Event
The centerpiece of the collaboration is Horde Rush: Demon Rush, a limited-time mode (LTM) that transforms the fan-favorite Horde Rush offering. This mode, available until November 1, lets players team up with members of the fictional girl group HUNTR/X for a new, demonic survival challenge.

The mode features KPop Demon Hunters-inspired abilities, allowing you to equip special powers between survival waves. You can even recruit one of the heroine trio—Rumi, Mira, or Zoey—to fight alongside you as a computer-controlled ally.

New Gear and Playable Idols
The crossover is dumping a serious pile of new gear into the game ecosystem.
- Skins: The event brings all three HUNTR/X Girls (Rumi, Mira, and Zoey) to the Item Shop as new playable skins. Based on early images, the character models are virtually indistinguishable from the animated movie itself, a major feat for Epic.
- Weapons & Items: Core Battle Royale, Zero Build, and Blitz Royale modes will now feature special KPop Demon Hunters items. These include Rumi’s Empowered Sword, Zoey’s Golden Bubble Shield, Mira’s X-tra Spicy Ramyeon, and the Derpy Teleporter Mask.
- Creative Tools: The collaboration extends to the Unreal Engine for Fortnite (UEFN). Creators will be able to build and publish their own games using officially licensed assets from the film, similar to past collabs like Squid Game and The Walking Dead.

The Unprecedented Crossover
It’s something of a miracle that Epic was able to put this collab together so quickly. ‘KPop Demon Hunters,’ which has more than 325 million views, became the most-watched film ever on Netflix earlier this year. This success led Netflix to label the franchise as its own “Frozen.”
The unprecedented scale of the film’s success clearly forced Epic’s hand, prompting them to move faster than they practically ever do on crossovers. The move is a smart one, proving Fortnite’s position as a massive marketing arm for the current film and whatever sequels Netflix has planned.
The KPop Demon Hunters event launches tomorrow, October 2, kicking off a month of high-stakes action and pop culture chaos in Fortnite.
