The band was originally scheduled to perform at Coachella in April 2020 as their first comeback stage after their mandatory military service, but those plans were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Their return to the stage in 2026, which will also celebrate their 20th anniversary, carries a heightened sense of meaning for their fanbase. BIGBANG will perform on April 12 and 19.

A Strong Asian Presence

BIGBANG’s performance is part of a broader showcase of Asian talent at Coachella 2026. The lineup also includes:

  • Taemin: The solo artist and member of the K-pop group SHINee, who has been experiencing a career comeback in recent years.
  • Katseye: The multinational girl group formed by HYBE and Geffen Records, who are adding Coachella to their list of major festival stages after a successful debut.
  • Laufey: The Icelandic-Chinese singer, known for her jazz-inspired music.
  • Fujii Kaze: The Japanese singer-songwriter who rose to fame through his piano covers on YouTube.

This follows a strong Asian presence at last year’s festival, which saw major performances from BLACKPINK members Jennie and Lisa, as well as ENHYPEN, XG, and Beabadoobee. In 2023, BLACKPINK became the first Kpop act to headline the festival, a milestone that solidified the genre’s influence on the global stage.

Since its inception in 1999, Coachella has grown into a prestigious annual music festival held over two weekends in Indio, California. It attracts an estimated 300,000 attendees each year and is widely regarded as a significant cultural barometer, influencing trends in fashion and lifestyle in addition to music.

The 2026 headliners for the festival are Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G. Passes for the event are available for pre-order, with organiser’s expecting strong demand.
