Dean Cain, the actor known for playing Superman back in the 90s, is becoming an agent for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This news comes right as the Trump administration is massively increasing its deportation efforts.
Cain made the announcement on Fox News, saying he’d be sworn in “ASAP.” He said he was inspired to join after seeing a recruitment video for the agency. He also said he’s already a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer.
He feels this is the “right thing” to do for the country. “President Trump ran on this. He is delivering on this. It’s what I voted for and he’s going to see it through, and I’ll do my part and help make sure it happens,” he told the show’s host.
Cain hopes his actions will encourage other former officers and agents to join up. He wants them to help meet the agency’s hiring goals and “protect this country.”
A Controversial New Role for an Old Superhero
Cain played the Man of Steel on the show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993 to 1997. Since then, he’s been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump.
The actor’s new role with ICE is happening as the agency gets a huge boost in funding and personnel. Part of a “big beautiful bill” signed by Trump gave ICE billions of dollars and a goal to hire 10,000 more agents.
This has led to a major increase in immigration raids across the U.S. The goal is to make at least 3,000 arrests a day. These raids have picked up people with protected legal status and even U.S. citizens.

These moves have caused protests all over the country. The Trump administration has started prosecuting people who protest or film these arrests.
Cain has gotten a lot of criticism online for his decision. Many people on social media are calling him the “worst superman ever.” Someone else commented that it’s the “most un-Superman thing” he could do.
This isn’t the first time Cain has made headlines for his comments. He recently called the new Superman film “woke” because the director described the character as an immigrant. Cain said, “The ‘American way’ is immigrant friendly, tremendously immigrant friendly, but there are rules… We can’t have everybody, society will fail.”
