FC Barcelona is making a significant move for the future, snapping up 14-year-old twin brothers Lee Dae-han and Lee Min-guk for its prestigious youth academy. The highly-rated Korean duo are making the switch from local rivals Espanyol, in a deal that Sport reports includes a five-year agreement for both players. This marks a new chapter for the twins, who moved to Spain at age six to pursue their football ambitions.

Rising Stars on the Pitch

Both Lee brothers have already shown serious potential in youth football circles. Lee Min-guk plays as a right fullback and was considered a top prospect at Espanyol, known for his “precise crosses and heading skills.” His brother, Lee Dae-han, primarily operates as a winger.

Their talent has not gone unnoticed in youth competitions. Lee Min-guk was named the player of the tournament in one youth competition, while Lee Dae-han secured the best forward award in the same tournament. Together, the twins led their squad to a U-14 league title this past season, showcasing their collective impact on the field.

Following in Footsteps, Aiming for History

The Lee twins are not the first Korean talents to pass through Barcelona’s youth system. They follow in the footsteps of players like Lee Seung-woo (Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors), Paik Seung-ho (Birmingham City), and Jang Gyeol-hee (Anseong Citizen). However, none of these predecessors ultimately made their professional debuts for Barcelona’s senior team.

If Lee Dae-han and Lee Min-guk manage to break into Barcelona’s professional squad, they would make history by becoming the first Koreans to achieve a pro debut for the club. This long-term goal sets a high bar for the talented siblings as they embark on this exciting new phase of their football journeys.
