The Karate Kid franchise is back, and it’s bringing some serious firepower. A brand new trailer for Karate Kid: Legends just landed, and it’s packed with nostalgia, intense fight sequences, and the dynamic duo of Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio. Forget Cobra Kai for a minute, this is a whole new chapter, and it’s looking pretty sweet.

This time around, the focus is on Li Fong (Ben Wang), a kung fu prodigy whose life gets upended when a family tragedy forces him to relocate from Beijing to New York City. Talk about culture shock. Li’s got his own battles to fight, both with fitting in and, of course, with the inevitable bullies.

When trouble comes knocking, Li’s kung fu skills aren’t enough. That’s where Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) steps in, enlisting the help of none other than the original Karate Kid himself, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). The trailer teases a mashup of styles, as Li learns to merge kung fu and karate, promising a unique martial arts showdown.

The trailer gives us a better look at the action, and it’s definitely amped up. Wang, who plays Li, is clearly a skilled martial artist, and the choreography looks tight. The film also stars Joshua Jackson, Ming-Na Wen, Sadie Stanley, Jonathan Entwistle, and others, but let’s be honest, the big draw here is Chan and Macchio.

It’s interesting to see where this Legends entry lands in the Cobra Kai timeline, or if it even connects at all. This could be a separate entity, and honestly, that might be for the best. Cobra Kai has its own thing going on, and a new Karate Kid movie with Jackie Chan feels like its own event.

The trailer even throws in a Chinese Peter Parker line for Li, which is a fun nod. This movie is clearly aiming for a new generation, but it’s also banking on the nostalgia factor.

Karate Kid: Legends is set to hit theaters next month, and it’s bringing the OG vibes with a fresh twist. Will this new entry capture the magic of the originals? And can Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio deliver the knockout punch?
