Get ready to wax on and wax off once again, Karate Kid fans! Sony Pictures has officially unveiled the title of the upcoming Karate Kid film: Karate Kid: Legends.
The movie is set to hit theaters on 30 May 2025, and it’s bringing together two iconic Karate Kid stars: Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso from the original film series) and Jackie Chan (Mr. Han from the 2010 remake).
While plot details are still under wraps, it seems like Karate Kid: Legends will blend the storylines of both Macchio and Chan’s characters.
As one article states, the movie is “expected to blend the story of Macchio, who starred in the original 1984 film The Karate Kid, and Chan, who starred in the 2010 remake of the same name alongside Jaden Smith.” Macchio will be reprising his role as the adult Daniel LaRusso, while Chan will once again portray Mr. Han.
The cast also includes some familiar faces like Ming-Na Wen and Joshua Jackson, along with rising star Ben Wang as the new Karate Kid. Wang was chosen after a massive casting call that received over 10,000 submissions!

This new film marks an exciting chapter for the Karate Kid franchise, which has seen a resurgence in popularity thanks to the hit Netflix series Cobra Kai. Although Karate Kid: Legends and Cobra Kai are not directly connected, the series has undoubtedly reignited interest in the franchise and paved the way for new films.
The upcoming movie will be the sixth instalment in the overall Karate Kid franchise. It follows the original 1984 film, and its two sequels, The Next Karate Kid (1994), and the 2010 remake.
With the release date approaching, fans can likely expect more updates and a trailer soon. In the meantime, there’s still more Cobra Kai to enjoy, with the second part of its sixth and final season arriving on November 15th and a third part expected sometime in 2025.
