South Korea’s Coronavirus recovery rate nears 90%

Korea Times reports that South Korea’s Coronavirus recovery rate has almost reached 90%.

New data presented on Monday shows that out of the 11,065 people infected with Covid-19 in South Korea, 9,904 have recovered, which is 89.5%.

The figures come from the the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC). Recovery rates reached 50% on 28 March and surpassed 70% by 12 April.

KDCD data also showed that patients under treatment was at 895 with the figure peaking at 7,470 on 12 March.

Last Thursday, the figure fell below 1,000 for the first time in 80 days.

The fatality rate in South Korea is at 2.38% with a death toll of 263. Among patients aged 80 or older, the mortality rate in the country is 25.92%.

In related news, South Korea’s oldest Coronavirus patient (104-years-old) has recovered from the disease and was discharged from hospital.
