Kelly Marie Tran has teased fans about Rose’s relationship with Finn in the upcoming Star Wars film Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker.

In the previous film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, lead character Finn (John Boyega) sparked a romantic relationship with Rose Tico (Tran). Fans have since been intrigued as to what will happen with the couple in the next and final iteration of the Star Wars cannon.

Discussing Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Tran said the film will be “ground breaking” Disney’s D23 expo.

“I think the most important thing to take from that whole snippet is just that the ending of this whole film is going to be really, really groundbreaking, in a good way,” Tran said. “I think there are a lot of little pieces from the older films and everyone’s together in this one. We’re gonna go out with a bang.”

Although Tran could not say too much about the Rose-Finn relationship, the 30-year-old actress said she was “excited” about it.

“I think that there are a lot of really cool things that happen in this movie,” teased Tran in an interview with Variety. “As to what, they are, I cannot say but I’m excited for people to kind of further explore these relationships between all these incredible characters.”

A teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker dropped yesterday, showing Rey wielding a red, double-sided lightsaber.

Whilst some were proud to see an Asian face taking on a lead role in the Star Wars cannon, Tran was victimised on social media to the extent of her deleting her Instagram last year. One hate group even took credit for driving the Asian actress off social media.

Olivia Munn, Mark Hamill and John Cho all spoke out in defence for Tran, with Cho calling the incident “incredibly sad”.

Fortunately, Tran came out strong through the other side and discussed how she was “tricked into thinking that [her] body was not [her] own.”

Now, fans are more excited than ever to see Tran returning to grace their screens. Earlier this year it was even announced that a separate Star Wars series starring Tran as Rose is being considered by Disney.
