‘Awkwafina TV series’ casting call: Comedy Central searches for Asian men and women

Comedy Central is searching for Asian men and women for Awkwafina’s TV series

A casting call has been issued for Comedy Central’s upcoming TV series titled Awkwafina (obviously starring Awkwafina).

Earlier this year, the Crazy Rich Asians star said the series “will take place where I was born and raised, off of Queens Blvd. featuring my father and my grandma, in a single family house, with many expired Asian Calendars. [my] father and my grandma, in a single family house, with many expired Asian Calendars.”

The 31-year-old also added that the series would be entirely penned by women.

Grant Wifley Casting has now issued a casting call for Comedy Central’s upcoming series.

“Seeking Asian Men and Women for Season 2 of the Comedy Central series “Awkwafina”,” the casting call reads. “Grant Wifley is seeking people to portray Asian men and women of all ages in various background/extra roles throughout the season.”

It added that elderly people were particularly sought after. “Especially seeking older people (60 yrs or older).”

Applicants need to email akwafina@gwenye.com with a photo, name and number, stating if they are a SAG-AFTRA or NONUNION member.

The casting call states that no acting experience is necessary and the work will be paid.

Shooting will be held between July and September.

In other news, Awkwafina’s new film The Farewell will be released on 12 July.
