Anna Akana has shared her views on abortion

Ant-Man actress Anna Akana has shared why she is pro-choice on the abortion debate.

In a post on Instagram, Akana revealed that she had an abortion nine years ago – a decision that she said was one of the best she has ever made.

Sharing a post with only text, Akana wrote, “I had an abortion 9 years ago. I was young, naive, and with a guy who cheated on me all the time. It is, to this day, one of the best decisions I made.”

“I was in NO WAY ready for motherhood No one should be forced into a situation as serious as pregnancy.”

In the caption, Akana linked the abortion debate to voting, explaining that voting to retain someone’s right to their own body.

“Abortion is healthcare,” the 29-year-old wrote. “What’s happening right now is terrifying and maddening. This is why voting matters. No matter where you stand on abortion, no matter what your feelings are on it, someone’s autonomy over their own body is MORE IMPORTANT.”

“Everyone being able to make informed decisions about their own body is more important than your beliefs.”

Kim’s Convenience star Simu Liu replied to Akana’s post in support, simply writing, “Your courage is so incredible. Thanks for sharing that. ❤️❤️”
