A British man who kicked his Thai wife to death has died in prison

Daily Mail reports that a British man who kicked his wife to death for not having sex with him has died in a Thai prison.

Kevin Smithan, 51, was arrested for kicking wife Kandra Smitham, 29, to death last year. The father of two had suspected his wife was having an affair after she refused to have sex with him.

Smitham’s body was found with fatal injuries at the base of Thailand’s Ubon Ratchathani Central Prison, according to the Foreign Commonwealth Office.

His body was found in August last year but his death was only confirmed by the FCO this week. Smitham died in hospital but it is not known how he received the injuries.

Last year, Smitham, his wife and two children were with Mrs Smitham’s parents for the Songkran New Year festival when he killed her.

Police said the couple had been drinking beer until 9pm when everyone else left.

“I arrived and found a woman lying naked in front of the house and called officials from the rescue foundation,” Inspector General Watcharapol Pimwong said. “There were many bruises on the face and body. She had been dead for several hours.”

“The wife ran away from home and fell in front of the house. He left his wife like that by covering the blanket. Then went to bed,” said Mr Pimwong.

The family had lived in the popular beach resort of Pattaya on the east coast. Mrs Smitham was a fitness enthusiast who had amassed over 28,000 followers on Facebook.
