Japan saw a record high in cybercrimes in 2018 with 2,000 child porn and prostitution cases.

As reported by SCMP, 2018 saw a record high for cybercrimes in Japan including 2,000 child porn and prostitution cases.

Cybercrimes reached 9,040 last year in Japan – a record high for the third consecutive year and an increase of over 1,000 from 2014.

Cryptocurrency losses through hacking amounted to 67.7 billion yen over 169 cases – up 20 from 2017.

Child porn and prostitution cases hit 2,057. 972 cases were for fraud and 926 were related to juveniles including sexual misconduct with minors.

Suspected victims of child abuse reached a new record of 80,100.
