Blackpink will make history by performing at Coachella as the festival’s first ever Kpop girl group.

THR reports that Blackpink will be the first Kpop girl group to perform at Coachella in its 20-year history.

Comprising of members Jennie, Rosé, Lisa and Jisoo, the Seoul-based group will take the California stage on Friday 12 April 2019. The girl group will also perform during Coachella’s second week on 19 April 2019.

The Seoul-based quartet will perform at the annual music fest alongside American heavyweights Childish Gambino and Janelle Monae, among others. Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Janelle Monae are among the other artists to perform at the Indio festival.

Coachella founder Paul Tollett flew to South Korea in 2018 to personally invite Blackpink to perform at this year’s festival. The group confirmed their appearance by writing sharing an image of the Coachella line up on instagram with the caption, “see you there”.
