John Cho will star in Netflix feature Tigertail by Master Of None co-creator Alan Yang.

Slate reports that John Cho will star in a Netflix feature by Alan Yang, a co-creator on Master Of None.

Titled Tigertail, the film spans over 50 years and is set in Taiwan and New York City. Tigertail “focuses on two people’s poor life choices and the consequences of those decisions, exploring themes of regret, longing, passion and repression while spanning continents and generations, from 1950s Taiwan to present-day New York City,” according to its logline. The film is based on Yang’s own family history

Tzi Ma and Christine Ko will also star in the Asian-led film. Shooting begins next week and the timing could not be better. With the recent success of Crazy Rich Asiansthe demand for Asian American cinema is unprecedented.

Cho’s highly anticipated film Searching was released on 24 August and is one of the five Asian films we’re recommending this month.

Recently Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M Chu and star Henry Golding bought out a theatre to promote Cho’s film.
