“Their bodies in the morgue are unrecognizable"

A Filipino mother from New Jersey has survived a car crash that killed her husband and four daughters.

As reported by Yahoo News, a Filipino mother was the only member of her family to survive a car crash that killed her husband and four daughters.

Mary Rose Trinidad, 53, lost her husband Audie Trinidad, 61, daughters Kaitlyn, 20, Danna, 17 and twins Allison and Melissa, 13.

The family were driving on a highway in Delaware when a pick up truck heading in the opposite direction veered towards oncoming traffic and crashed into their minivan.

Audie and Mary Rose were properly restrained at the time of the crash but their four daughters were not. Audie and his daughters were pronounced dead at the scene

Mary Rose was hospitalised with serious injuries but is currently alert and stable.

Audie’s brother, Daniel Trinidad said the family were returning from vacation in Ocean City, Maryland to Teaeck, New Jersey, where they live.

The driver of the other car, Alvin S. Hubbard Jr, 44, was taken to a local hospital with his 24-year-old male passenger. Both were released with non-life threatening injuries.

“I’m trying to keep it together. We don’t know how we will cope once reality sets in. They’re all gone, gone,” Daniel Trinidad told the outlet.

“They’re a God fearing family. They go to church. My brother texted me a picture of the blue crabs they ate on 4th of July. They’re all gone in the blink of an eye,” he continued, adding that “Their bodies in the morgue are unrecognizable.”

Speaking about his sister-in-law, Trinidad added, “She knows they are all gone, but she is under heavy sedation, so it’s not sinking in yet. I am not sure she’ll be able to even stay at this house without her husband and kids.”

Public information officer Melissa Jaffe issued details of the crash.

“For unknown reasons, the F-350 failed to remain in the southbound lanes of travel and exited the roadway, crossing over the grassy median and into the northbound lanes of travel,”Jaffe said.

“The front driver’s side of the F-350 struck the left rear side of the Sable, causing the Sable to spin out of control and come to a rest in an embankment. The F-350 continued out of control southbound in the northbound lanes, when the front of the Sienna struck the passengers side of the F-350. The impact caused both vehicles to be displaced off the edge of the roadway and into a ditch,” Jaffe added.

Authorities have yet to determine “if impairment” was a factor regarding Hubbard’s involvement.

GoFundMe page has been created to raise funds for Mary Rose and has already passed its $10,000 goal.
