Jackie Chan has revealed how his stunt team were used for the The Lego Ninjago Movie.

In a featurette uploaded to the Warner Brothers YouTube channel, the Hong Kong stunt master explains how his stunts are applied to the big screen.

“When they asked me to do stunts for The LEGO Ninjago Movie , I thought I had to use LEGOs,” Chan says. “And then I realized, ‘Oh, I can do a stunt as a live action martial arts move.’ ”

The Rush Hour star adds that the Jackie Chan stunt team also lent their skills to the film. “Everything the stunt team does, the ninjas do also.”

In the featurette, Chan and his team are seen doing real-life stunts to help the animators recreate them for the film. Choreographed by Chan and his team, the kung fu sequences are then applied to the animated lego characters.

A sequence featuring Justin Theroux’s character Garmadon is shown with Chan admitting it’s his favourite fight in the film.

“I have been doing stunts more than 50 years, I’ve never done something like this before,” Chan adds.

The Lego Ninjago film, set to be released in October sees Lloyd (Dave Franco), AKA the Green Ninja, and friends battle for the Ninjago City. Led by kung fu master Wu (Chan), the team must defeat evil warlord Garmadon (Theroux), who also happens to be Lloyd’s father.
